  4. For Sikhs, festival of lights marks Guru Hargobind’s release from prison after serving his sentence for his leadership role during a battle against Muslim rulers. The Sikhs celebrate by offering prayers to Guru Hargobind at Harmandir Sahib (the Golden Temple) in Amritsar, India, where he is honored with a celebration of lights.
