Apply to JD programs

Application deadlines vary from school to school. You can check the application deadlines of the schools that interest you on their websites. The best way to apply is by getting your application in early, so it’s not too late when the deadline arrives.

In addition, be sure that every required document has been submitted before applying for a JD program; otherwise, there will be no way for admissions officers to evaluate your candidacy as thoroughly as possible. Also, remember that some schools accept only international applicants or only specialize in certain areas of law (such as corporate law). This means if one type doesn’t suit your needs, another might!

Finally: research each program carefully and ask questions if need be!

Complete the JD degree and pass the bar exam

After you complete the JD degree, you will have to pass the bar exam. The bar exam is an oral examination that tests your knowledge of laws and legal principles. The first time you take it, it may be easier than later because there are fewer questions on topics that are more familiar to most lawyers (e.g., contracts), but don’t let this lull you into a false sense of security!

The next step is finding a job as an attorney – if all goes well!
