Ratan Tata was born in Bombay, on 28 December 1937 to Naval Tata and Sooni Tata. When Tata was 10, his parents separated, and he was raised and adopted by Navajbai Tata, his grandmother and widow of Ratanji Tata.
Tata studied at the Campion School, Mumbai till 8th grade. Then continued his studies at the Cathedral and John Connon School in Mumbai, the Bishop Cotton School in Shimla, and the Riverdale Country School in New York City, from which he graduated in 1955.
In the 1970s, Ratan Tata was given a managerial position in the Tata group. In 1991, Ratan Tata became the chairman of Tata Sons and Tata Trusts. He include the acquisition of international companies like jaguar Land Rover and Corus Steel.
Ratan Tata has been a honored with many prestigious honorary awards in his career. He has been honored with multiple doctorate title in Science, Technology, Literature, Law, Business Administration, Automotive Engineering etc. He later also awarded with Padma Vibhushan in 2008. India's 2nd Highest civilian honour, for his contribution in trade and industury
