In India, to be eligible for PhD course, an individual must have completed a master’s degree in a relevant subject from a recognized university with a minimum of 55% as an aggregate score. Further, an individual also needs to qualify for the PhD entrance exams, i.e. UGC-NET, CSIR-NET, and GATE. Many universities in India also conduct personal interviews and group discussion rounds. Lastly, according to UGC guidelines, an individual with 4 years of a bachelor’s degree with a minimum of 75% as an aggregate score is also eligible for PhD course.
